With over two decades of experience under its belt, Fraunhofer FOKUS is well-established in realizing and providing scientific consultation for IT projects in the public sector. Currently, Fraunhofer FOKUS scientists are working on numerous national and international projects in the Open Data space. They are developing concepts and coming up with new technology based solutions. The provision of structured Open Data from both authorities and regional bodies is being considered as a whole. An essential requirement for the successful provisioning of Open Data within the public sector domain will be to examine existing strategies, administration processes, and IT systems. Starting from both national and international Best Practices, specific requirements will be analyzed and derived so that harmonized solutions can be conceived.
